Disc-Shields help
ok what do Disc-Shields do. they used to have them on blockbuster DVDs but now they don't. Are they so people can't burn them. What do they do and why did they stop using them???
Thanks, Wyatt |
a little search on google nets:
http://www.audiovideosupply.com/Security.htm as to why they stopped using them probably due to cost. |
Yeah, the top of the disc can sometimes be far more fragile than the bottom! I had someone give me a burned disc with a post-it note on it once. When I removed the post-it to use the CD, it took the label and a big chunk of the aluminum substrate with it. Hilarious (well, for a few minutes, anyway...) Here's a pic.

My ex works there she said they stopped because some people avoided buying their previously viewed dvd's and games because of the shields. Also if you purchase one and then don't want it and sell it to a movie/music store that sells/buys used stuff they won't pay as much for them or won't even buy them at all.
