Weird Windows XP problem - Tilted Forum Project Discussion Community

I'm using Windows XP Home Edition SP1 with all critical updates.

Whenever I login, the icons that I set for My Computer, The Recycle Bin, My Documents, etc. revert to ones that I used a couple months ago. It doesn't affect any other part of the theme, but if I change the theme back to the current one, it changes my sounds to the Windows XP defaults.

I've already tried saving the theme again with the sounds that I wanted, but I still have to change it back every time.

You'll probably wan to remove your profile and readd it.. Ive seen strange things happen to user accounts on some XP machines..

If you create a new user on the machine, does it happen to them as well?

control panel - appearance and themes - folder options

you must have something checked that reverts to a default

just an idea

are you using third-party theme software like wincustomize or styleXP?

I had styleXP installed, but I uninstalled it and I'm still having the same problem.

check to see if styleXP completely uninstalled. check to see that it's startup entry isn't still there.
