Fully assembled PC... what next?
 

I just finished assembling my first PC from scratch.

What is the next step (after I plug it in and it dosent go up in flames)? Install the OC, or are there drivers that need to be installed?

usually drivers aren't installed 'til after the OS is installed.


go ahead and install the OS.

if you built an AMD, the first thing to install after you get the OS in is the AMD drivers that came with your motherboard. Install them first, or other stuff could go crazy on you.

Install the OS, then get your net connection working, then, if AMD, go to the website for your motherboard and get apliccable drivers for your board, the drivers on your MoBo CD are probably out of date. Also, get the security fixes from Windows update. Update your vid-card drivers, too. That's what I do, others might have other methods, so you mileage may vary. Good luck.
