DVD Burners
Hi all
I'm looking at buying a internal ide dvd burner, any thoughts on the best?? Thanks |
Well, a few months ago, the Sony DRU 510a was quite popular
(we've got one. love it.) I'm not sure what's the standard good burner to get currently.. do you really mean the 'best' or the best for a particular budget? and try a forum search :) |
I'm gonna order this in a few weeks:
Lite On LDW-811S http://images10.newegg.com/productim...106-926-01.JPG Specs: Write Speed: 8X DVD+R, 4X DVD+RW, 4X DVD-R, 2X DVD-RW, 40X CD-R, 24X CD-RW Read Speed: 40X CD-ROM, 12X DVD-ROM Interface: EIDE/ATAPI Buffer: 2 MB A white/beige version of this can be found here. |
I use the TDK 440N, love it.

one of my close friends purchased a Lite-On DVD-RW for 79.99 after rebates. so far it's worked perfectly. everyone bitching about how "quality is how much the things cost, you have to spend a pretty penny to get the best" must not hold much validity.....

I've got the 4x LITE-ON for $80. Works great for data storage and burning movies.

My advice to someone buying a DVD burner for the first time: Read the forums over at dvdrhelp.com to see what brands are given the most credibility by users. In my experience, LiteOn/Optorite/Sony/Pioneer are the more dependable brands. I'm currently using the Lite-On 851s and Lite-On 811s (w/ updated firmware) and the results have been great. I would like to add that if you choose to go with the Sony/Pioneer over the LiteOn/Optorite, you might be paying a little more for the same features. You get the point. Good luck.
