WiFi PCMCIA Card

I was wondering what would be the best one to get, I have heard of so many different ones supposedly being good, but I am looking for the one with the strongest signal, and perhaps support for netstumbler and such. I just got a wicked deal on a Microsoft MN-700 Access point ($30 cdn new) and want a good card for my laptop. Cost is not too much of an issue, I would rather quality especially how I got such an awsome deal on the AP. Anyway any information would be appriciated and now I am off to research on revew sites for myself. Thanks

I got the AP from staples, Futureshop had a 72hr sale on and this AP was $80 off, Staples has a 150% price match guarentee and I asked them for it, so I ended up getting $120 off the normal price of $149.99, made me a VERY happy guy. The Microsoft AP would never have been my first choice, but at $30 I couldn't go wrong, I mean if I was only going to use it as a switch I would still be saving cash. BTW its the Accesspoint, not the pcmcia/pci card

well I have 2 pc cards, I would stay away from linksys.... poor range and locks up alot.... WPC11 that is.... also have a MS B card and it works great... specialy for $20 for it and the $20 i payed for the wireless router.... but they are both 802.11.....

The most powerful ones i found were smc.. don't know much about them but worth checking out...
The best and most recommended are orinco, made by my former employer, Lucent Tech.......

Personally, I think Linksys are excellent (but then again, I'm biased!).

why is it that you are biased, Mr Mephisto?

Well mine really won't work under win2k for more than 30 sec with out locking the system up but works fine under Debian... and the senior support person I got transfered to was rude as hell.....

I'm biased because I work for a related company.

I know at least a couple of thousand people using the Linksys cards (literally) and have heard of no major issues. Send me details directly and I'll see if I can help out...

Cool, I might just head down to staples and pick up a Linksys. They have a 10 day satisfaction deal that if you dont like it you just bring it back. it also helps that I am good friends with the manager hehehe. That way I can see if it does what I want. SMC is the brand of my Switch, and it seems to be good so I might check out them as well. I spent the last 20 mins searching for a 802.11g Orinco card sold in canada and I cant find shit all, if anyone knows where I could pick up some information it would be great.

Thanks for the replies people.

Got a D-Link 802.11b card for my laptop that connects to a Belkin wireless router.

I get a 75% signal from the opposite end of the house. Haven't had a single problem with it.

Picked it up for $40 after rebate too.
