Alternative Browsers
Seeing that a few people have problems with IE, like myself, anyone have any other options for alternatives? I like Crazy Browser or the new Mozilla, tabbed browsing is the shit!
I use Opera, and I like it.
The latest version was a little over the top IMHO with mail and stuff added... But performance is getting back up with the newer revisions. And it works a hell of a lot better than IE (though it does not support IE-hacks, so some sites will refuse to work) I'm never going back to IE again! |
You will find many Firebird fans (a Mozilla ofshoot) on this board, I am one of them.
wow, i think we need a sticky. :)
<-- Opera user, btw. |
MyIE2 is my favourite one.

firebird for teh win... new version 0.8 is gonna drop soon, so look for it!
Just moved to Mozilla here. Got tired of IE, and figured I should try somethin new.
Opera user here. Pretty solid, customizable interface and mouse gestures. And I've grown to like the built in mail client.
Oh, and when a site is being finicky, I got MyIE2 as a backup. |
I am finding mozzilas tab system annoying. I am constantly finding that it's opening new windows with 1 tab, instead of staying a similar window.. Possibly a setting i've missed, dunno. Mozzila / Crazy Browser is good times.

camino/safari with a sprinkling of firebird here
Just downloaded Mozilla 1.6(I think), but haven't got it all figured out yet. Too long on IE and to adjusted to it. Will take me a while to get used to the different services Mozilla has.
Mozilla for me. Sometimes Opera, but usually the latter.
Chalk another one up to the Firebird.
Its awesome to see so many Mozilla users, I have wanted to try out opera for the longest time, just havent had a chance to download and play with it.
Firebird eliminates 98% of my Internet Explorer usage. I use one of the nightly builds optimized for Athlons and some other CPUs.
I use Opera. I tried Firebird and I'm just too used to the Opera mouse gestures that the Firebird extensions can't match. Also, I find it noticably slower than Opera -- not by much, but noticable. I use IE for the sites that don't act quite right with Opera.
On a related note, does anyone have a browser on a USB pen drive that doesn't write anything to the hard drive of whatever machine that it's stuck in? Firebird worked for me, but it wrote way too many files (something like 600+ files and 200+ folders) and made the USB drive operate waaaay too slowly. |
Safari mainly, but Firebird in the windows world.

http://white.sakura.ne.jp/~piro/xul/...nsions.html.en It will give you a TON of control over tabs. Check out www.mozdev.org for more nice little things to add on. But know there is a reason they're not included in the browser by default - be it in the interest of size or stability. |
Ok, cool trying it out. I'll tell you how it works later ;p
