Mobo uses D-DDR, but can I still use regular DDR with it?
I'm looking at a new mobo because I'm an idiot and wanna waste some of my money. Anyway, it supports dual-channel DDR, but I want to know if such a mobo can also use regular DDR so I don't have to upgrade my RAM, too. I know that if it supports it that I will not be running in dual-channel mode (I'm not that dumb), but I don't care about that right now.
Any advise? Also, here's the mobo: LINK |
You should be able to use your regular memory.

I thought that the dual channnel usually means you put 2 ram sticks into the designated slots and it makes it a little faster than normal. am I getitng my terms confused again?

Dual Channel DDR HAS to be done in pairs of the same memory in order to work. It will work outside of Dual Channel if you only insert one stick of ram. So the answer to your question is....Yes )

Dual-channel DDR can add anything from 0 to 20% to your performance, depending on your setup (Athlon or P4, programs, etc). Not using the memory in pairs (=dual channel) is a waste, but it will definately work.
