Ah, porn pop-up script.

While I believe horses are beautiful elegant animals, I have come to the conclusion that see'ing them rip a young lady in half with a 20 inch horse wang every 30 minutes is not something I want my computer to do.

I have a virus of some sort, what it does is every now and then (30 minutes to an hour) when I click on a link in my browser, it will either redirect me to a porn site or pop-up 3 or 4 windows in a different browser.

To fix this problem I've cleaned out my temporary internet files, and run both ad-aware as well as Mcafee virus scan. Yet they persist in their elderly grandmother on grandmother slut action.

These pop-ups are eating my soul, I think it would be prudent for me to ask for help.

Windows XP home
Nvidia geforce 3 ti200

Spywareblaster: hxxp://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareblaster.html

spywareblaster prevents new spyware from
being installed and can block spyware/tracking cookies.

Also try Spybot. Sometimes it catches things that Adaware doesnt.

spyware blaster doesn't remove spyware, it prevents spyware from installing in future.

Take the loopback address out of the HOSTS file located in your Windows\i386 directory. That'll be a start. Run the above mentioned tool. Then look into getting the cwshreder & shootthemessenger from www.grc.com and run them both.

http://oldlook.experts-exchange.com/..._20811562.html

Run a search for "hosts" on your main harddrive and open that file in notepad. Remove all instances of "127.0.0.1" from the list. You could remove everything from the file too. Save the file to its original location and overwrite the old file.

Here's a concatination of my HOSTS file.
---------------------------------START
# Copyright (c) 1993-1999 Microsoft Corp.
#
# This is a sample HOSTS file used by Microsoft TCP/IP for Windows.
#
# This file contains the mappings of IP addresses to host names. Each
# entry should be kept on an individual line. The IP address should
# be placed in the first column followed by the corresponding host name.
# The IP address and the host name should be separated by at least one
# space.
#
# Additionally, comments (such as these) may be inserted on individual
# lines or following the machine name denoted by a '#' symbol.
#
# For example:
#
# 102.54.94.97 rhino.acme.com # source server
# 38.25.63.10 x.acme.com # x client host
-----------------------------------------------END

editing the host file isnt really an answer to the problem is it? i know myself use the host file to block pop ups etc so that i see it kind of like a 404 error instead of the actual pop up site, the pop up still comes if my pop up stopper is turned off i just dont have to see what shit it is spewing on my desktop

Like I said before, Montana, cleaning the HOSTS file "will only be a start" ...

CWShredder.exe takes care of the problem but leaves the hosts file entry. Read what I wrote. I spoke about the hosts file, but pointed out 2 other programs necessary to finish the job. Read it again.
