Network chuggs computer
hmm i am hvaing network problems. I have the modem on my computer (sharing a 56K, woot!) and am linkd directly via a cross-over cable to my brothers computer. REcently, i've noticed that whenever i hvae my network cable plugged in, the computer starts to chugg, or moreso have sudden interupts every 5-10 seconds. Like a complete halt of the system for half a second every 5-10 seconds. Which is soooo fucking annoying.
Anyway, what could be some causes of this? or also, what are some methods to look at the transfer between 2 computers, like the sending and receiving of packets? any good programs to do this (individual packets and there source/destination)? I don't know if i hvae some dodgy thing trying to download something off of his comp or what? but whenever i unplug the network cable, the problem goes away. So it's definiltey network related. We're both using Win XP professional. No windows jokes please :p Thanks for any help :D |
Okay okay get this: Two panes walk into a bar....oh wait, no windows jokes? Dang.
Seriously though, what are the specs on your computers? Is your brother doing anything on his computer at this time, or is it simply when you have your cbles plugged in? |

You'll need to download the WinPCap drivers, which should be listed right next to the Windows binary downloads. Best bet is to go ahead and make sure both computers are virus free and up to date on Windows patches. It sounds like it's something with that that's trying to get out to the internet. |
