Copying DVDS to HD?
Is there a way to copy DVDS to my hard drive? I have XP home & Roxio easy cd/dvd creator 6. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

get you a program called smartripper. that will rip the .vob files off the dvd. then you can either burn them to a dvd +/-r (if you have one) of compress them and burn them to cdr. for compression, I use a program called FlaskMpeg.
check out doom9 for links to where these proggies can be dled |
be prepared to take up lots of time to rip them DVDs...
DVD to DivX VCD Ripper 3.0.0.2 |
You can just rip an ISO of the DVD. What software in windows can play that back, I do not know.

I use DVDDecrypter to copy DVD's as images to my HD, then you can use Deamon Tools to do whatever you want with the image.

if your are just making back up copies to another disc, try to find clone CD/clone DVD.
i think they were shut down, but there are still copies out in the wild internet. |
If you're looking to play them from hard disk and save some space I recommend the following:
DVD Decryptor Dr. DiVX Piece of cake. If you want to author a Video CD then you're got more work for youself. VCDhelp.com is a good start. |
Go to doom9.net and get auto gordian knot. once you rip the dvd to your hard drive. it will do everything else to put it into xvid format and you can specify the size/quality. It does take about 3hrs to run per 2hr dvd.

I would just do it the easy way and burn them to dvd-r's..that way you always have a copy plus it doesn't suck up ungodly amounts of hard drive space.

Another vote for DVD Decryptor. good lil proggie.
