Buy.com?
Has anybody ordered from this site? I'm a little cautious since I've heard some bad things about it, and I can't even find a customer service number at the site.
Look on www.resellerratings.com. Thats a great site to check up on online retailers, I use it all the time.
i've bought about 6 things from them over the last year, so far no problems, cheap, ships about same as amazon , of course its only when something goes wrong that a remark is really useful.
I bought a router from them a while back, ordered and was charged for 2-day shipping, but it took forever to get here.
Started using newegg.com and haven't had any problems so far. |
I've been buying from that place since 1998. It's a great store with super fast shipping to my area in 1-2 days (even with the cheapest or free shipping)

I've had fast shipping with buy.com... but for some reason they don't like my credit card and I have to use my girlfriends. They used to have special sales (like on weekends) and you could stock up on mousepads or something wacky.
I've only ordered from them once but it was pretty good considering I had to pay by money order.
I've always had good luck with them.
They also ship out of Dallas sometimes, so I get my order within a day or two (in Oklahoma). |
I bought my speakers from them. It was a great deal. I had no problems. Unfortunately I do not remember how long it took to ship them to me. That is probably not a bad thing!!
never had a problem in the 4-5 years i've been buying from them.
Also never had problems with buy.com in the 4 years or so. They don't really have the best pricing or customer service though. I usually get things from Newegg or ZipZoomFly (formerly Googlegear), unless it's niche/uncommon stuff.
I've never had much of a problem with buy.com. Fair prices. My biggest gripe is that they have practically no customer support and they bury their telephone number. They are strictly a web-based internet sales company.
If you are looking to be the most comfortable with your purchase, buy.com is very good place to go. However, I must agree with my fellow contributors in promoting newegg.com and also zipzoomfly.com (formerly googlegear). They have fast service and generally the best price on hardware. Their prices are usually within .50cents of each other. That's just my two cents, though. |
