How do I access the Temporary Internet Files Folder?
People with Windows XP know that if you go to My Computer and Right Click on a Hard Disk Drive (C: for example) and go to properties it brings up another menu with different tabs and what not.
Then if you click Disk Cleanup, it will start compressing old files, and at the end it shows you have much disk space you can free up. I haven't compressed it such a long time, I can never get to the last screen to view my Temporary Internet Files and in turn delete them. Anyone know the directory for this? Last time I got to the end, the folder was over 1 GB. Thanks. |
There's two ways to access your temp folder.
C:\Documents and Settings\JHowe\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files Just change the word "JHowe" to whatever your user name is. If you have to clear out other user folder, just go into the Documents and Setting folder and seek out others. The second way is to click on Internet Options which is located under Tools on the explorer menu. You should be in the General tab, click on Setting button under Temporary Internet File and then click on View Files and it'll take you right to where your temporary internet folder is. |
If your Temporary Internet Files are reaching 1 gig, I'd suggest cutting down the amount of space you allow IE to use. I personally drop mine down to literally 5 megs of space for caching everything.
