Windows Picture and Fax Viewer -- I HATE IT!
So, I recently upgraded to XP. In doing so, I am having to contend with this "Windows Picture and Fax Viewer". It adds a default option of "Preview" to the menu of each image. So, double-clicking an image will load it into this program instead of my chosen image viewer (ACDSee Classic), and I can't see any way of removing this through the "File Types" part of the "Folder Options" menu. Anyone know of an easy way to eliminate this preview nonsense?

hrm..
try this. right click on an image go to open with -> choose program now choose the program and put a check by 'always use this program to open this extension' and u should be on your way. |
yeah. or you can do it in file types just like you said. set it to whatever program you like. easy peasy
i like p/f viewer because i don't want to load photoshop every time i want to look at a pic, but hey that's me |
I like the Windows Picture and Fax Viewer, actually. It's very responsive and low resource, also automatic. It does just what it says, a quick preview of the image to guage what it is blah blah blah.
Pretty useful IMO |
At first I hated it but picture and fax viewer combined with thumbnail view in expolorer works really nice for viewing pictures.

that is interesting - open is shown as default in file type actions, but preview on the right click menu. i see what you were saying.
