SUPER BROWSER!

MyIE2
get this browser! its the best thing i ever saw in my life!
so much options for such a little software! its only 700k and it does more options then IE and netscape and opera all mixed!

theres:
-popup stopper
-ad/content stopper
-mouse controls(use it to do any options you want not just back and foward)

-TABS!!!!
-built-in search in the address bar(google or the one you want)
-shortcut keys
-ETC....

too many options to name them all!
:D

Speed_Gibson 10-19-2003 12:17 PM

tried it once upon a time, and it seemed very good for the IE wrappers out there. Prefer to use a browser based on Presto or Gecko though personally.

SecretMethod70 10-19-2003 12:48 PM

http://www.tfproject.org/tfp/showthr...threadid=31590 all I gots to say ;)

Seriously though, the screenshot looks like it has WAY too many buttons to be productive, and it doesn't do anything that a browser based on FREEDOM doesn't also have the ability to do.

phukraut 10-19-2003 01:36 PM

i dunno, opera is pretty damn powerful.. if you know how to edit the ini files.

zenmaster10665 10-19-2003 01:57 PM

Opera is by far my favourite.

It does everything I could ever want.

(Other than get me beer from the fridge)

MexicanOnABike 10-19-2003 03:46 PM

thing with MyIE2 is thats its only 700k. its got more options then opera and you'll know its compatible with all the websites out there.

Not to get into a browser war, but you'll only know it's compatible with the websites that are written using shoddy code that's "optimized for IE" rather than actual W3C standards. And the number of websites fitting that description are becoming less and less as IE continues to remain stagnant and other browser add support for more advanced web features. And don't forget the only reason MyIE2 is 700k is because it piggybacks on IE.

Sincerely, as far as features, I can't find anything in MyIE2 that isn't available for Mozilla or Opera - can you provide some examples?

phukraut 10-19-2003 06:50 PM

does it block all of IE's security holes? that would be cool.

TrogDor 10-19-2003 06:55 PM

I dont think ill ever give up Firebird. It has all those features myIE2 has, along with complete customizablilty(as in downloadable themes and extensions). It is also very sleek and fast (Non-bloated), and dosnt have all the security issues IE has.

hahahahahaha there ya go :)

MexicanOnABike 10-19-2003 07:18 PM

well theres alot of options: popup/ad/content stopper. tabs, mouse controls(give it any options you want instead of just back and foward), groups, auto scrolling, undo button, utility tool bar, google(or any search engine) addressbar, auto translate page, and more...

sounds like Opera...does MyIE2 have the "right click/translate" feature? Haven't looked at it for sometime and that was brief glance then.

edit: and before any moz zealots point this out, yes there is the fact you have already "paid" for MyIE2 by purchasing IE with windows and the free version of Opera is ad-sponsored. And of course the gecko family is open source.

having said that, I would say use whatever works for you; personally I will not touch Explorer for a looong list of reasons.

popo 10-19-2003 09:29 PM

I use MyIE and wouldn't go without it now. I used to use Opera but got fed up with sites that wouldn't load properly. I even had some java probs in IE that are cleared up in MyIE. The groups feature is simply outstanding. I also love the fact that when you open MyIE it asks whether you'd like to open all previously opened sites. If you think that there are too many buttons, you can always customize and remove the ones you don't want.

I've never tried Mozilla so can't give any thoughts on that. But MyIE absolutely rules IMHO.

SecretMethod70 10-19-2003 09:45 PM

My point is not to say that MyIE2 is bad by any means really. Besides the security problems with IE, I'd say use whatever suits you. Only trying to point out that these features have long been in other browsers and are just now getting to IE - and not even through an official release. I'm not sure what you mean by groups, but I do know that moz and opera both have every other option you listed there.

popo 10-20-2003 05:58 AM

The Groups feature in MyIE allows you to set up a group of websites, say your favorite sports news sites, as a single group. Then when you click on the Sports News group, each of the sites you placed in that group opens in a different tabbed window.

And you're correct about Opera having MOST of the same features (no groups), but like I said, Opera screwed up the look of enough sites to make me give it up. And you need to view ads if you don't want to pay for it.

zenmaster10665 10-20-2003 08:38 AM

I am using Opera 7.11 and it is able to group websites...you just ahve to choose to bookmark all and then select "Open all in selected folder."

As for the ability to customise different gestures...that sounds interesting...I dont think Opera does that...

The cons to opera that I have found have been that it does seem to have problems loading some pages (probably forced MS compatible ones.)

MyIE2 sounds cool...but it will have a tough time beating Opera for me...I might check it out. :)

OK, been awhile since I used Opera, but I know Mozilla can do this.

Yes, this is why I use Mozilla (plus the fact it's just all around better in many other ways)

at least in opera 7.2, you can customize the gestures np.

dnd 10-20-2003 03:23 PM

what...IE and Microsoft products have holes in them? Never!!! ;)

Akira 10-20-2003 04:43 PM

I don't know I'm pretty confortable with mozilla. It pretty much does all of what you said, and for 56k it seems faster.

JimmyTheHutt 10-20-2003 08:46 PM

Mozilla still roxors.

They said it.

I ran Opera for a while, but liked the feel of Firebird better, so I moved back.

popo 10-21-2003 03:24 PM

Another great MyIE2 feature is that when you type an address like say www.yahoo.com, you only need to type "yahoo" and then hit Ctrl-Enter for it to automatically add the "www" and ".com". These keystrokes are all customizable to add .com, .net, .org, etc.

I don't know whether Mozilla or Opera has this but I love it.

phukraut 10-21-2003 04:32 PM

with opera, you don't even have to do ctrl-enter, you can just put in yahoo, and if it doesn't resolve immediately, it'll add www and com (or any other ending you want).

btw IE does this naturally anyway.. you don't need MyIE2 to get it. =).

Not any version of IE that I've used. If you don't put the .com, it'll go to a search results page. I meant to say about MyIE2 that when you hit Ctrl-Enter it'll add the .com and send you to the page. I did use Opera for a while and don't remember it doing that.

phukraut 10-21-2003 07:08 PM

for me IE 6 does it when you press ctrl-enter. just the one that comes with xp pro. maybe i added it to the registry a long time ago on my own.. that could also be.

liquid_dreams 10-21-2003 11:26 PM

i'm also a firebird user, but that other broswer IE2 dose seem cluttered, perhaps i'll try it i mean why not i got like 4 other brosers on my comp?

muckluck 10-23-2003 05:56 PM

O.K. The auto scroll, fullscreen, and auto-hide features are great for the titty board. I'll use Mozilla Firebird when I'm not horny.

scavengertype 10-24-2003 08:54 AM

I've been using Avant Browser for about a week now, and I'm liking it.
Nice feature-----hold right, click left mouse buttons to go back, hold left, click right to go forward.

Church 10-24-2003 09:02 AM

Yep, its all about Opera. I switched about a week ago and I love it so far. Takes some getting used to, but its great.
