I need to set up an secure ftp server on windows 2000, does any one have any recomendations for a program? Not really had much experience in ftp servers, apart from accessing them, but studying comp sci so should be able to figure out how to set up most of the programs.
More secure the better! cheers for any ideas.

Well, okay.... Install Linux?

There are ways to route FTP traffic over an ssl-encrypted tunnel. The better approach would be to have your FTP server on a linux or unix machine, and run an SSH server, and have people use sftp. Though that puts some burdens on your users.

Not being a Windows guru (nor wanting to be), I don't have much more specific to suggest tor you.

The solution for you problems: OpenSSH for windows... Includes SCP/SFTP server support.
Get it from here

And the client for windows machines: WinSCP
(Linux/Unix machines can use the standard "sftp"...)

Oh, that's good! I didn't think there could be an SSH implementation on a basically shell-less OS, but... Good to know!

Stands to reason. SSH is a whole lot more than a secure terminal program.

do have linux installed on one partition, but really have so little experience in it, that in the period i have to set up the system, it wouldn't be practical.
