Installing Subwoofer in a Truck?

I bought a new truck a few months ago. (A 2003 Ford F150 Lariat SuperCrew). It has a decent CD/Radio System, but lacks a little in the low end. I am not looking for a thumping loud sub or to spend a fat wad of cash, just something to help the low end out and take the load off of the four other speakers. Being a truck, (albeit a large one) there is not a lot of enclosure room.

Any suggestions or comments would be greatly appreciated.

A decent solution for people without much room to have a big sub box is a bazooka tube/amp. Small, compact, and gives good clean bass. It won't vibrate windows from 3 blocks away, but since you obviously have taste and don't want that, it should suit your needs nicely.

Some of 'em are small enough that they'll tuck in behind a seat and you'll never know they're there.

You might want to amplify the signal comming from your sound system.

There should be premad boxes available for your truck. A single 10" sub and around 150 watts will do wonders for the sound of your system with getting "ghetto loud"

Good luck! I'd recommend any of the infinity subs available on ebay, or right now you can get a Kenwood tornado sub for something crazy like $40 shipped from www.circuitcity.com, though you have to go pick it up because they are out of stock for shipping from their warehouse, only in store pickup is available. Good luck.

i highly recommend building your own box instead of buying a premade on from CC or any other commercial place, they cut corners and there is absolutely no internal bracing. if you want nice tight deep bass, an we all want that, then the box needs to be built like a tank. The true test of a box no matter what the size, you should be able to jump up and down on it with full force and not worry about it breaking, and a joe shmo should pick it up and comment that it feels like its made of cement. the more "dead" the sub the more tight and musical the sub is. Also make sure you line/stuff the sub with a polyester fluff, it tricks the sub in thinking the enclosure is bigger then it actually is, which is good considering you are limited on space.

American Bass DX's, sweet little subs for not a lot of money. We were selling them like hotcakes down at the shop.
