Sapphire Vid cards...
Man, what a disappointment. I bought a card from them for a gaming machine in the living room. It freezes (locks up) too damn frequently.
I went to their website and read a continuos rant from many posters in many threads about the same problem in their Radeon 9200, 9600, 9800. No reply from customer service questions to my emails. I paid a hefty tag for the 9800 Pro Ultimate 256ddr, and it really is a horrible card. I got the 256ddr for high resolutions on a 36" monitor. Newegg won't refund. Exchange only. They must have had too many rma's on this P.O.S. Anyone have a good experience with a Sapphire ATI high end card? |
Hey, you know if you call NewEgg and bitch at them, they'll give you a specialized RMA that allows refunds. I bought TWO consecutive GeForce FX 5900 Ultra's from them, and both came fucked. I called, and the customer representative guy immediately gave me an RMA number that refunded the entire card with NO restocking fee. That's right, they even took off the 15% restocking fee.
NewEgg is known for their excellent RMA service and that's about it. I've had far more shit sent to me than good products from them, but they always have a great RMA service and customer service. That's why I keep buying from them despite the crap that gets send to me most of the time. I'd honestly call and ask for a refund since it was so expensive. -Lasereth |
I don't know how relevant this is, but I bought a Sapphire Radeon 9000 from Newegg, and it has never created any problems on my computer, while playing Unreal Tournament and Midtown Madness 2, at least. It has no fan, by the way.

i have the same card i think (9800 256 from sapphire, mine has a huge ass heat sink)
any way it works fine, it has some problems on boot but if i reboot it works until i reboot again, its never locked up and runs all the games well. |
Lasereth, Thanks for the input. I was trying to decide the phone call, or the email. I am sure they will come across with some positive customer service. Thanks again.
if i reboot it works until i reboot again. Yeah, that's a shining accolade! I hope you were being sarcastic. . |
poof, I had some trouble when I first got my card too, but it turned out that the majority of my problems came from incorrect driver versions, older bios, low power supply, and a number of other minor complications. It was very frustrating at first, but now it seems to scream. I can turn up AA to 6x and AF to 16x and still get nearly 60fps constant in most games. Games like UT2K3 that are more CPU intensive drop into the 30's during large battles, but the picture is outstanding. All this running on 1164x878 (or whatever it is).

I work at a computer store, and we sell these cards. Usually I prefer to sell Asus or MSI cards, but Sapphire also sells quite well. We do get occasional problems, but we get them with all of the brands, not just Sapphire. I can't say they're better or worse than the rest...
In fact, I've recently bought an Asus V9560/TD Fx5600 card, and it fucked up in games, refusing to produce anything but a blank screen. Installing the latest Nvidia drivers solved all my problems. I expect Sapphire cards to behave similarly on occasion. |
I explained my situation to newegg and they agreed and gave me an rma.

very cool resolution i have purchased many items from newegg and found the customer service to be top notch, i have not had any problems with the products yet.
