Can anyone give me any advice on buying a new printer? I need something that prints really good quality, but doesn't cost too much. I have pictures saved on my computer that I took with a digital camera and I want to print them on picture paper... but my current printer doesn't have a good picture quality. Anything you can tell me would be a help... Thanks!!

i just bought a new lexmark z45se, prints great, never had a problem with lexmark before, it was $20 after 60 in rebates from circuit shitty....

I bought the canon i450. Was really impresses with the print quality for the price. The software is a breeze. The ink cartrdges are quite small, but then they are really inexpensive compared to the alternatives.

the main thing is dont get sucked in by a cheap printer, you will more than pay the difference in ink, especially if you print photos.

Look at the ones that use less expensive cartridges, its not usually the ink that affects quality so in the long run you'll save heaps of money by gettting a more expensive printer with cheaper cartridges

Well, I know this isn't what you're looking for since it's EXPENSIVE, but I have the Epson2200 and it's incredible. Of course it's about $700 but the quality is amazing. Just thought I'd share.

check out the borderless canons these guys are going a long way to show they don't want get in the trap of the half used useless inkcarts and so on, the ink cases are clear and fairly large

the i960 is 2 picolitres with seperate ink tanks and bordeless prints @ $199

best buy often have the canon reps around and a bunch of display models.

I use an Epson beause I reaload my own ink....and if one gets plugged you can fill an empty cartidge with rubbing alcohol and it will soak it out....$24 worth of ink will last a year....just keep it in a zip lock bag in the refrig. I print a lot of digital pictures.

HP Photosmart or Canon S900 (one of the best printer)

Don't buy a Epson Stylus 800/900 series since they are very slow and a thristy ink drinker.

i got an epson for school... and it completely crapped out on me... i took it back and the guy there said that if you dont print pretty often epsons tend to clog up...

I'd steer you away from *anything* that uses top paper loading. Paper trays may take up more space, but I've found they're much less likely to grab several sheets at a time.

Stay away from Lexmark..
If you want it to work in Linux too, go for an HP..
Canon's are good too but I dunno about the Linux drivers for it..

Yep I got caught out doing that, Lexmark printer cartridges are a rip off, stay well clear.

i'd go for a HP Photo - something....most of them are pretty good, and the support is great, maybe an hp photosmart 7660.

they run about $150

EPSON...smply the best printers made. Before you go out and buy a Canon (I am a dedicated Canon Camera man), check on INK prices. Epson is far and beyond the best!! Read some reviews online!
