File sharing services...
what hear does everyone use. I thought a while ago I saw one on this board I had never heard of before. I use Kazaa and WInMX, but I am having some problems with both. Are there any better ones out there?

DirectConnect, BitTorrent, IRC, and private FTP servers are the way to go in my book.

Ares....its the only thing that works on Cali Universities. www.softgap.com Your school may have already blocked the address. I know ours did. download.com has the program there. But funny thing our school blocked that too. and IRC doesn't work right at our school, and bittorents have been having some problems.

Speaking of private FTP's, does anyone here run one? I can't get mine up and running thanks to Charter Residential policy, and I'm getting fed up with WinMX.
|
im running a Direct Connect hub on the school lan... i figured the school firewall would keep RIAA people from it... and i doubt they monitor the internal network traffic very much...
|
You should read your internet user agreement one more time, JStrider. Some schools don't allow hubs, routers, or anything of the sort.
|
Jazzman: The DirectConnect hub is a piece of software, the centralized server -- picture it as the hub in a hub/spoke network topology.
