DVD-Rom Woes
Greetings To This Distinguished Quorum,
So my DVD-Rom drive is slowly but surely starting to fall apart. With all the movies and games its can through, who can blame it? So I need another one. The consensus among the gaming magazines I read all point to Pioneer as the drive to buy. Thoughts, suggestions, etc. on this drive or anything better out there? Anything would be useful. Thanks. |
I have a Pioneer 106S that I absolutely love - I built a machine for a buddy with a Pioneer 121S (or is it 120?) and he loves the thing also. Slot load is definitely the way to go if you're a lazy bum like me.

Pioneer literally pioneered DVD technology. I have become a big fan of their products. They also rock for flat panel tvs, though Sharp is considered by many to be the top in quality there. It is hard to go wrong with Pioneer DVD products.

Another vote for the slot loading Pioneer units. We got them on all three of our comptuers here and never had a problem with any of them.

Count me as another person recommending the Pioneer slot load drives. The only reason you'd want a tray is for mini-CDs, and you can always put those in your CD-RW anyway.

Pioneer, Pioneer, Pioneer. I had a Toshiba, but when watching movies, it couldn't put enough data out, so the hard drive worked for the entire time. That was crappy. Bought a Pioneer 106S and just love it.

Like I said my DVD-Rom is on the fritz so I was wondering if it was alright to use my CDRW drive to listen to music, play games, etc. I don't want to ruin that drive too. Thanks.

You should not have any problems using your CD-RW drive to listen to music or play games. Unless you attach thumb-tacks to the CDs or something in order to jam the drive, I doubt there will be a problem.
