OK, here goes...

My old high school needs/wants to be able to remotely control a PC connected to a projector from some sort of handheld device, anywhere in the room.

Basically, they want to be able to take a palm pilot/pocketPC and output the graffiti as if it were being typed into the machine, and so that the display part of the PDA would act as a mousepad for the computer.

Two-way video is not necesarily required, because the teacher would be in fullview of the projector at all times.

They'd also like to do it for under $500.

VNC should do what you want.. If i understand what you want that is :)

Yeah, I found PalmVNC last night.

you could also use something like a linksys WPG12 wireless presentation player, if your computer / palm has a wireless connection. It also includes a remote with a laser pointer.

they are in the ~$300 range, and with a wireless card for the computer as well, should come to way under the $500 budget
