Who's got the crappiest system here?
Hey, just wanna see if anyone can top my monster of a computer. :D
Right now I am running a... Athlon 750 384 mb of ram 20 gig HD GeForce 2 MX SoundBlaster Live! 17' monitor I'm in dire need of an upgrade, but I'm just a poor college student trying to get by. :D |
omg you call that crappy, Im in envy,
P3 600 64 Mg ram 8gig HDD 14" monitor sound blaster 64 |
P3 450mhz
:( |
Not me.. but the girl I live with has a Laptop (read: Size of a bloody dictionary) that's a pentium 90 or something like that. Another guy I live with brought his computer here (res) from home. It's in an old 386 case (with the Turbo button, speed display, and all). I can't wait till he starts it up hehe.
|
gateway 486... 14 inch monitor... gotta hit it on the side when the monitor starts to go black....
ok its not my primary computer... but i do have it... |
My In-Laws are in the process of upgrading their trusty 286 with Windows 3.1 to a P4/3G beast.
They're stalling on whether to get a 17"LCD or 19"CRT (go figure - at least they're upgrading). |
running an old Dell P2 V350 with 8 gig hard drive, and
windows 98SE....got a love it. |
this is not my primary pc, but i do have this.
athlon k6-2 500mhz! it was crappy, but i made it a lil bit more respectable. 184mb ram. radeon 7000 30 gb hd. |
P3 450
256 MB RAM 20 GB HDD Sound Blaster Live GeForce3 I also have Pentium 166 that I use as a file server and a 486DX/33 that isn't hooked up. |
Celeron 500
128 sdram 8 gig hard drive Integrated sound card (or whatever) GF2 |
my "slowest" here is a mostly OEM (changed the video card/HD/soundcard/added NIC) Gateway PIII 650 with 320 MB of RAM that is my primary server. Used to run win2k server with active active directory and DNS until I moved and had to make some changes for my present DSL setup.
the other three systems have a mean speed of 1.5 GHZ or thereabouts |
of course my main machine is fast.
AMD 2.0 next in line is my previous comp PIII 800 and just a step below is my server PIII 733, (but what i lacks in speed it makes up in HD's... Carries 12 right now) Next would be the celeron 500 and now i'll skip a few and go to the slowest i own. Radio Shack TSR-80 if u can categorize it with the computers above?? |
I suppose that would be me. I hate bran, love jalepenos., My systen is regular. I might scream while being "regular", but, gotta love those chiles.
Oh, you were talking 'puters! Crappiest one? The Gigabite bitch I built. The same customer service ASUS offers. Non existent. ASUS sucks and seems to be competing with Gigabite as far as customer service. They both suck. |
I have a RM Nimbus 286 with 2mb of RAM and a 20MB Hard disk. Oh also have a 14" VGA (Not SVGA) monitor. Still in use occasionally when I need to run a very old programme.
Also have a celeron 400 which is pants as well. |
Worst puter that I still own is IBM Aptiva
Pentium 166 Mhz 16MB RAM 1.6 gig HD 1MB Video RAM upgradable to a whopping 2! 6X CD-ROM 28.8Kbps Modem, software upgradable to 33.6Kbps Makes for a nice heavy paper weight right about now. Tried upgrading just a tad but system refuses to allow itself to be upgraded. Compatiable with virtually nothing I say |
I use a celeron 333Mhz with 160Mb, 40Gb HD - it's actually not bad - even runs Office XP without too much trouble!
|
I have a sunpc "accelerator" in my sparcstation 20. The sparc part kicks major arse for something with 2x60MHz processors, but the sunpc (486DX 25) is slower than slow.
|
i don't use it anymore, but i've got a Texas Instruments laptop running a P-75Mhz, maxed out at 40MB RAM, running Win 95. the thing weighs a ton. no USB, no ethernet, nothing useful.
|
My dad said he just tossed out all my old computer stuff that was cluttering up the house, but I think he said he kept my AMD 486DX/100 for some reason.
I was pissed he ditched the old Compaq Portable and my 386DX/33. When I was last home during Christmas, I put together a fraken-puter with all the "best" parts from all my computers that I was going to bring out here, but he tossed that too. It was a mish-mash of parts from 1980's to 1990s. I think I put my 80meg Maxtor HD in there for just for kicks. |
I'm on a celeron. I think that says enough.
|
current machine:
2100xp 2nd in line: 1.2 tbird 3rd (missing case and HD) 450 mhz k6-2 |
Sinclair ZX-81. 300 bps modem. 8-inch b&w composite display (aka a little TV). A hard wooden stool.
And one hell of an attitude. |
Main -- abit - barton 3000 - 1024mb ddr - fx 5900u
Second -- abit - 1.33 thunderbird - 1024mb sdr - ti 4200 third -- asus - 733 p3 - 512mb sdr - ti 4200 fourth -- Have no clue - k6 266 - 16mb ram - onboard 8mb gfx My fourth was my second computer. The first was a compaq something or other. |
My primary computer that I use to write this post.
PIII 450 |
Dealing with a 300bps modem has to suck. But, a hard wooden stool? Stop eating all that cheese. :)
|
OK, from best to last:
P3 550 256M ram 32M Geforce256 bunch of random HD's from 4 to 35 gig MB is an old Abit with 4 IDE controllers Celeron 500 256M ram crappy onboard video 8G HD (Wife's machine) K6-III 450 256M ram 16M TNT video 20G HD Toshiba P166 Laptop 64M ram 2G HD (posting from this one) Dell P150 Laptop 80M ram 1.5G HD All PC's and latops are used every day, the laptops are used for sitting on the couch browsing and chatting and stuff. All machines except the wifes celeron are running Linux |
This thread is depressing to me. I'm usually not a compassionate guy, but I really feel bad for some you.

The worst PC I have is a Gateway 2000 (when they still had the 2000)
p1 - 120 mhz 1 gb hard drive 32 mbs RAM 4x cd-rom 14k modem ethernet card (added on) I haven't turned the thing on in 4 months, I like to think of it as a really expensive paper weight. |
What you guys call a crap pc is nirvana to me.
This is my best pc: Pentium II 300 64MB Ram S3 video card (1M memory) 4.2 GB Hard Disk Aztec Sound Galaxy 16bit card. It has DirectSound issues. My other pc is a Pentium 1, 166MHz with 16MB Ram and a 1GB Hard drive. No sound card, and a 1MB Graphics card. Both of them run on windows 95, the first (and mostly unsupported) version. This thing has bugs you cannot patch. |

It's amazing how getting a girlfriend, losing your job, getting married, and having a baby affect your ability to upgrade a computer. I'm planning on a new one though, there are just too many good games comming out in the next year to wait. |
my grandparents have a commmador 64 ) runs off a normal TV and uses those big floopy disks....
|
Intel® Celeron™ 633 MHz (w/128KB L2 Cache) PPGA CPU

My mother uses this on a regular basis:
Pentium I 133Mhz 32mb pc100 S3 video card 4mb memory 600mb hdd or 1.3gb (I forget) ethernet card old Creative Soundblaster card We're hoping the 802.11b wireless pci card is going to work on her computer. |

Not running this right now because it recently had BSOD but
p 90 16 mb of ram (upgraded from 8) have no idea about the hdd Windows 95 Best I could remeber of the poor thing. |
Although I don't, and haven't for years, used this computer. I still have it; the first computer i'd ever layed hands on.
286 Laptop (Backlit screen) 2 3 1/2 floppy drives No hard drive 512k ram About the size of a typewriter. Thats about it. It was a computer my dad got for work. We used to play Space Quest 2 on it when I was 6. Although i'm sure others have seen and used much older, it is about the oldest machine i've ever used. My grandpa worked with computers since the early 60's and we always hear stories about the first hard drive-like devices that were pretty much a 6 foot tall rack with 6 big magnetic platters on it. An arm would pick up one of the platters, move it to the reader, read it, then put it back. Suprisingly they had about 180ms access time to them! No telling how much those went for back then, but hey, it beats using punch cards for storage! |
