Smart filter

Hello, everybody
I have a question for your pro in here. I work for a big company.
I can read my company Email but when I try to my home Email, it was blocked by a software called Smart Filter. My question is :
Is there a way to bypass the filter without the Company know about it?
Thank you in advance

What do you mean? When you try to read your home e-mail at work, the company blocks it?

What type of e-mail is it, Hotmail or something else such as a POP-based e-mail account?

Give some more info and I'll help out more.

SmartFilter is an URL blocking software package.

Bypassing it without the company knowing about it? No, otherwise it's not very useful software.

Well, you could always drop in a SSH tunnel to some random shell account you've got on a UNIX machine somewhere and get around it that way.

However, chances are pretty good that your company has a policy of "no personal e-mail at work" or something similar, and if they find out you went around it (ie: suppose you infect your work machine with a virus sent to your home computer), you'll be in a world of shit.

I wouldn't recommend it - you can live without checking your e-mail for a few hours, right?

The Yahoo mail you should be able to check at work, or if they've blocked it, you've little to no chance of being able to access it.

As for the Cox e-mail, you could always just set up an SSH tunnel - if you've got a shell account on a UNIX machine somewhere.

Not a problem.

Just remember to be smart when checking home e-mail from work, as you don't want to give them a reason to get mad at you.
