RedHat 8 and Xconfigurator
Problem:
I recently installed redhat 8 and when I initially set up the Gui everything works fine. when I restart it works and loads the Gui. I try to change the resolution or the color and it says logout and restart Xserver. I logout and then type "startx" it goes blank and spits out text saying basically there are no video settings for it and it can't start. Question: Does anybody know how to reconfigure the xserver from the command line. (already tried "Xconfigurator" but didn't work.) Any ideas? thanks in advance

edit the /etc/X11/XF86Config (sometimes XF86Config-4) file. In there you will see a section labeled (I think) "screens" and you want to edit that so that the res you want is the first listed in all the res listings.
