have a problem with Mozilla Firebird

i just downloaded the newest version of mozilla firebird (0.6.1) and im just getting used to it. one problem i have is that it doesnt support shockwave animation on some web sites. for example, instead of the animation, there will just be a big gray box that says "click to install plugin". so i downloaded shockwave, and when i went to install it, it asked me what browser to apply it to. there were no options in the box, though. when i clicked browse to search for the mozilla, i opened the mozilla folder but couldnt find the actual .exe icon. so i cant figure out how to use the shockwave plugin and i cant view some sites

Doesn't Firebird install (unzip, same thing in this case) into a Firebird folder?

If you start Firebird with a shortcut on the desktop, or the quickstart toolbar, Right-click on the shortcut, and go to "properties". On the "shortcut" tab, you can see where the .exe is located.

Or you canlook for a "MozillaFirebird.exe" through your computers "Find" feature. Either Start > Search
Or
Windows Key + F

Find out where it is, and when you run the shockwave installer again, point it the right folder/file.

Incidently, Shockwave doesn't recognize Firebird as a major browser yet. Thats why it doesn't show up in the list. But it does install, and it does work. You just need to know where Firebird was installed.

you can either direct shockwave to the firebird/plugins directory. or you can select mozilla firebird if you have the registry entries for firebird. read the plugin faq for more details.

I had this problem and if I remember correctly, I had to go in and make a copy of the mozillafirebird.exe file and name it netscape.exe and keep it in the same folder. THen I tried to install it and it picked it up as 'netscape' but it worked.

Again, if I remember correctly I got that 'idea' from the bugzilla page or something.

I'd go search to give you the direct link to the actual advice, but I'm a little tired. Maybe I'll edit this later to show yah where it's at.

Firebird will work, you can do what meanspleen and bob32 said. When you are running the shockwave installer and you get to that screen - one of the buttons there lets you find the folder to install to. Just find the folder with firebird in it, and select the plugins folder.

I had to do the same thing while installing it.
