Cannot open email

I recently went to open my email ( MS outlook 2003 ) and it prompted me that I had to provide my password. I did but it said that it was incorrect.

Now I cannot even open the program to view any emails.

Please Help

I am running Vista for home.

Thanks

Who is your e-mail service provider (e.g. cable company, Yahoo, etc)? You should be able to request a new password.

Trying typing your password in MS Word or notepad, then copy and paste it into the field that prompts you for the password. You might have a stuck key on your keyboard.

try this
Email Hosting Services | Pick Up Your Email | mail2web.com

It is a webpage that will access your email - you must enter your email address and password.

This would rule out a problem with your installation of Outlook. If you still encounter a password error, contact your email provider.

Good luck.

I wouldn't dare to use it! I'd rather contact the email hosting service.

I've used it occasionally for the past 3 or 4 years, never had an issue.

I used to use mail2web often they are very handy for troubleshooting setups.

heck you can even use any service like gmail to use the imap/pop service and make sure that your outlook PST isn't corrupted.

my service provider is bellsouth. I can open access email via their site, so based on the above, maybe my outlook settings are screwed up. If so, what recommendations do you have, or am I going to have to reinstall outlook.

Thanks

Check bellsouth's website to see what they recommend for Outlook settings. Possibly something has changed regarding authentication. If that doesn't work, you could delete your email account in Outlook and set up a new account with the identical settings/password.

Your email prog probably has a corrupted datafile.
I would save data/settings and delete the account and make a new (the same) account.
If that did not work I would delete the program and re-install.

Anyway, good luck.

I agree. It's probably a change in the settings (port numbers, authentication) of your ISP. If that is all set correctly, I would try and run scanpst on your inbox.

Try Outlook password recovery and see if your outlook password is different from what you are using. If that doesn't work, go to your ISP website and reset your password.
