USB printer not working in Vista
I recently upgraded my Mac OSX to Snow Leopard, and as it happens, my model of Lexmark printer (P3150) isn't supported.
So I tried switching from my network hub to a USB connection to my Vista machine to print something. I can't get it to work: I get a communication error. I've tried deleting and reinstalling the printer (through the auto-setup when plugging in a USB device). I've downloaded and installed the latest drivers. I've deleted and reinstalled again. Is there something in the back end I can tweak? Why won't a USB device work fairly easily? I thought it was plug 'n' play or some shit? |
Many usb devices and especially printers need, for some strange reason, to have the drivers installed prior to be connected to the computer for the first time.
I would check the support website for that printer and check if they don't have a tool to clean out a failed installation. Some manufactures actually include their tool in the driver/software kit that comes with the device. Best of luck ZB |
