Need some advice on PC speakers

I'm looking to get speakers for my PC. I don't have a lot to spend on the speakers after all the expense of the new system (I want to try to keep it under $100 if possible). What speakers would you recommend?

Thank you in advance.

I would like 5.1, but I'm sure the price range I'm looking for severely limits my options.

I own these speakers made by Cambridge Soundworks. They're only 4.1, but I don't know how much you'll really miss the additional channel. They also sell these, but I haven't personally used them.

I can vouch for the high quality of the 4.1 set however, and I doubt the 5.1's will be worse. They're plenty loud enough, have an excellent signal:noise ratio, and have been going strong for four or five years now.

I've got a set of Logitech Z-560's and I must say that these are the best speakers I've ever owned.

They're 4.1 surround, 400watt THX certified. With the right sound card a fifth channel could easily be added.

The sub on these is amazing. Its an 8" powered and ported sub in a wood box. It POUNDS. I believe it weighs in at around 180watts.

So if you're really looking for good speakers that'll do well in all areas (gaming, music, and movies) I'd suggest these in a flash.

Hmm... after a quick pricewatch it seems these still go for about $150, but they're well worth it.

I own a pair of Z-640's as well. I love them. I got a definite boost to my FPS games by using them.

The bass pounds lound enough for me to hear the bass three rooms and one floor away from the speakers, with doors closed. They don't have the best range of sound (I'm a sound designer, so I'm picky) but for 95% of all applications you'll be more than happy, and not out a lot of money.
