just a heads up for people looking for a new monitor, you can get this beast on newegg for like 320ish, wait till fathers day, i'm sure they'll have some discounts on stuff, I got this during their memorial day sale.

That is larger than the television we had when I was a kid.

Shauk 06-01-2009 02:48 PM

same here, I feel so self indulgent but it's my birthday present to myself.

Radio Monk33 06-01-2009 03:08 PM

Jealous! What's the brand and model?

Shauk 06-01-2009 06:12 PM

Hanns G

not sure of the model but I"m pretty sure it's the only 28 incher they make at the moment

ratbastid 06-02-2009 04:01 AM

Waaaaaah. That's gorgeous.

I love my 23". Biggest one I could find for under $200 about a year ago.

Lasereth 06-02-2009 04:06 AM

I have a 19" Hanns G widescreen and it hasn't failed me yet. It also came with 0 dead pixels. Good LCD!!

Wyodiver33 06-02-2009 04:32 AM

I'm only rockin' a Dell 1440x900 LCD and a 17 inch CRT.

Wrexify 06-02-2009 11:05 AM

Nice choice with the smaller monitor on the left, I use that one!

Very sexy looking new LCD- let us all know when you're having movie night. Oh, and happy birthday!

biznatch 06-02-2009 11:33 AM

Still on my old Dell 17inch LCD, but one day I'll either get a multiple display with more 17s, or a bigger monitor.

Shauk 06-02-2009 01:31 PM

yeah the one on the left is a samsung 960BW (discontinued I believe) it's my 2nd one, I sold the 1st to a roomie as I was moving out to minimize clutter, this one was a refurb, it has a problem now, which is what spurred me to buy the new monitor.

basically if i turn it off for a long enough time to cool down, whenever I turn it on, it starts really dark and flickering.
the 1st day it took like 15 minutes to come all the way on
the 2nd day, an hour
these days, it takes 1-2 days to stop flickering and go from about 25% brightness to full brightness.

think a tv repair place can fix it?

I dunno - I guess I'm old or something.

I just enjoy watching tv or being on the computer w/out having to move my neck around to view everything on the screen.

I think they might, you should call your local repairman and describe the problems. Monitors and modern TVs are pretty similar nowadays.

Wha? No. Get another one. I have one Dell 17" E177FP and I'm looking for another exact same one ... from craigs list!!! I will spend a max of $50 on it!

They will be for coding purposes just cause I feel it's cool. For movies and entertainment ... still in the works.
