Why can’t I get pricing up front from so many of these CRM companies?

Probably because you're asking the wrong questions. If you what you want, it will be easy to price, but CRM by nature has lots of addons, which can make the price vary pretty wildly.

Also because they are typically very expensive, and do not like for you to know it right up front.

GF works in HR for an IT firm, I think this is something that she has spoken of, unless I am totally off base...
