Google G1 Android Phone
There have been tons of videos and articles on the new G1 phone. So far it looks really good. The interface is very clean and intuitive from what we can see. Also it has almost all the features the the iphone does plus a few more. Here is an article comparing the two: Showdown: HTC T-Mobile G1 VS. iPhone 3G | Gadget Lab from Wired.com
![]() The main pros compared to the iphone in my mind are the following: Full qwerty keypad! Open source SDK with app store (no apple review process!) Better camera Integrated Google support Lower price for the phone and per month. Here are the main cons: No exchange support (could be added in the future) No syncing support Single touch instead of multi touch screen Smaller screen size Only 8 GB of memory possible (I don't know why they don't support larger microSD cards.) Proprietary headphone jack I had been heavily leaning toward buying the iphone until I saw some videos on this phone. here is an advert for the phone: and here is a demo: What do you guys think of the phone? Do you think this will give apple a run for its money? This is a first generation phone I wonder how nice the second generation will be. -----Added 23/9/2008 at 07 : 16 : 57----- Also most of the things that are lacking (desktop syncing and exchange) in this phone seem to be software related which I would expect would be fixed in the future. I have a feeling the android app store will be much better than the iphones and apps will likely be less expensive since google is not taking any of the profits from 3rd party applications unlike apple.
