Friggin' Printer Problem. Please help.

Hi all. System is as follows:

Dell XPS 410,
Core 2 Intel, 2GB RAM
320 GB HDD, nVidia 8600 GTS 256 MB
1x 19" LCD, 1x 17" CRT
Dell 922 All in one USB Inkjet
Win XP Pro, SP3

Here's the problem:

When trying to print to the 922 Printer I get a fail saying that: "The Option is Not Available Because the Printer is Not Communicating."

I have tried uninstalling the printer, other USB ports, reinstalling the printer, etc. Win XP detects the printer and shows it as "Ready." But I can't print. I can scan though.

Any ideas? Help!

Probably obvious question, but have you made any recent changes to your system? Maybe the upgrade to SP3?

First thought would be to download and install the most current drivers for your printer to try and rule that out first.

failing that rollback your system to a time before the printer stopped working.

I would also check and see if the print spooler service is started as well

Microsoft Corporation

I did install SP3 a few months ago but I am almost positive it printed fine after. I can copy, scan, etc. Just can't print. It scans fine to PS7. I'm pretty good with hardware problems but this one has me stumped so far.

Oh, print spooler is active when I try to print.

Embic suggested checking to see if the print spooler is started. I did. I also cycled it off then on. Thanks, guys, for the help. I appreciate it. I hope I can resolve this soon.
