Objective-C? Anyone?

Any Objective-C developers here? I'm working on learning it to develop for the iPhone, and I'm having some trouble getting my head around some basics. Since I never learned C, this whole business of pointers (for instance) is leaving me a bit befuddled. I'm a Perl expert... and this syntax looks like line noise to me.

Anyone? Anyone?

Isn't there any other programing language that you can use. C is very powerful (and eazy to make mistakes) but has a rather steep learning curve. Pointers are one of the more complex things in C, I was always unsure when to use * and &, and eazy to change what a pointer points to instead of changing the value (address vs value).

Negative. The iPhone API is Objective-C only. That's the language that the Mac platform has more or less standardized on since the release of the Cocoa framework.

I've got 15 odd years of experience with C/C++, so I can help you out with any C syntax questions you might have.

Objective-C is the standard for Mac development. Has been since NeXTSTEP and the G3 processor had a baby named OS X.

There are C and Java bindings for the Cocoa framework too. People who know refer to Objective-C as "elegant", and I don't speak the language yet myself, so I don't quite know what you're laughing about.

Well, each programmer has his favorite language, no?
I did some C++ and I liked it a lot.
