Addon card for pc.

I am looking to add bluetooth to my inspiron 9300. And I dont really want to have a usb port sticking out of it all the time. So I am looking for a pcmcia card or express card or what ever you call it thats on the side right above the hard drive. But I cant find one to do it. Is it possable??

You mean something like this:

Thing is, pcmcia is older tech and (at least) my notebook does not have any such slot anymore. What kind of notebook do you have? (to help id what the slot you have actually is...)

The Dell Inspiron 9300 does have a PCMCIA slot, so the bluetooth card should work just fine.

Thanks healer - probably would've helped if I'd fully read the OP

Well I got my card today. and it didnt come with any type of CD for installing it. And I cant seem to find a driver anywhere on the net.

Here is the info it has on it.

Manufacture: Philips
Model# PH10491
S/N:2T9839N09851

The package says Model# bt-101n

If anyone can find me a driver that would be GREAT !!!

I came across this via google - the original page is in french, so the link is googles garbled translation of this:

The guy suggests (I think) that if you have windows XP SP2, this kind of card should just work...

If all else fails, you could email Philips directly:

That translation is entirely transparent. Yes, that's precisely what he says. And then he gets ignored.

Man, this is what I get for trying to think in two languages at once. I noticed the above on preview: yes, I originally stated that the translation is transparent when I meant to say that it's well done (surprisingly so, for a computer algorithm).

Apparently, according to nofx-eric, all you need to do is install SP2, which includes native support for Bluetooth devices.

I have SP2 on that computer im almost 95% certain. I just checked and I have SP2 on that computer already. I plug the device in and it registers as PCI serial port

Bluetooth is a serial interface. It was meant to directly replace cabled serial devices.
