ASP.net Machine account, wtf?

I found this in my user accounts, and I've read so far that it is created when you install the .NET framework, but what the hell for?

I don't AT All like the idea of something creating accounts on its own like that without even asking me.

Anybody know if I can delete this account without breaking .NET?

Pretty upset about the whole account creation thing right now..

if you run asp .net stuff youll have to provide a seperate set of runtime credentials if you disable that account, but it has strong auto generated password, and it doesnt have much access, if you don't use an asp .net stuff you can safely disable it.

If you don't have an application that requires .NET and don't work with Visual Studio.NET, you should be able to remove the .NET framework using Add/Remove Programs. If the user account is there afterwards you could probably remove it safely.

Unfortunately I do have an app that requires .NET. I have no understanding as to why .NET had to create an account, though. Anybody else not so happy about an installation creating accounts with asking?

You must read about asp.net machine.

I also agree with you but hard work is required.
