Want to buy a new agp video card
I would like to update my agp video card. I currently run an Nvidia 5700 LE. But the fan shroud is starting to warp and the fan is rubbing along the sides. I could buy a replacement cooling unit. But, im just going to buy a new card. The current card runs WOW ok(thats the only game i play on the pc) But i would like to step up to a better card. I have no desire to to buy a new pc till maybe late next year.
I found this card http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814143069 and i think it will be good enough? I should get better fps i would think? I dont want to spend any more that 150. But i do want to stay with Nvidia. Your thoughts and comments are welcomed. Thanks |
Take a look at Lasereth's Mega Videocard Buyer's Guide - the most comprehensive, non-BS video card buyer's guide on the market!
http://www.tfproject.org/tfp/showthread.php?t=68344 I would go with Nvidia 7900 GS or ATI Radeon X1950 Pro if you can afford it ($150) |
AGP is a different market. These are your best bet:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814102093 Radeon X1950 GT $130 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814241041 Radeon X1950 Pro $150 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814130076 GeForce 7600 GS $100 The one you listed is way overpriced. That card is only worth $100. Any of these cards will run circles around your old one. They are undoubtedly better than your old card, but WoW running better is guess work -- it's largely a CPU-limited game, meaning your CPU has a much bigger impact on gameplay than the videocard. But that videocard you have is a real shitbox so if you have a decent CPU then your FPS should go up with these cards. |
Lasereth,
If it helps, i have a P4 2.20ghz with 1 gig of ram. Would that affect your suggestions at all? |
I would get the 7600 GS then for $99. Awesome deal, awesome card
