Original NES
Anybody miss theirs? I think I'm gonna try and find another.

To be honest, I think for the money and time involved in getting an old one you might as well go with the wii and get the old games that way..
|
with ebay, if you want it, you can get it :-)
I would say go for it, try and get something with two controllers, i enjoy playing vintage mortal combat on my SNES and nothing beats mario on the NES... plus duck hunt!!! the original system with the controllers will be a way better experience than on a wii controller if you are really into it. for less than 50 you can get one of these new recreation units that play both NES and SNES games off ebay... i'm seeing varying different models of these things, kinda interesting: http://cgi.ebay.com/NES-SUPER-NINTEN...QQcmdZViewItem also, you can get a original with 16 games for the buy it now price of 40 bucks http://cgi.ebay.com/Original-Nintend...QQcmdZViewItem  |
The little recreation units, like Generation NEX, are really your best bet.

You can always use a PC emulator for NES, there are tons of them.
And if you really want an "NES" controller, they make USB adapters for them. |
i still have a super nes in operation. but the graphics are not worth it.

and getting an NES would not cost anything near getting a Wii and buying the games for it would. |
I tried. I took out Starfox, and tried to play it. and mario cart. just can't enjoy the view anymore.
|
Leto, try Donkey Kong for SNES. Beautiful graphics.
Maybe it depends on the gamer, but I don't care much for graphics. If they're nice, it's a bonus, but as long as they don't prevent me from understanding what's going on in the game or see what I'm doing, I'm fine. BTW, TARZAN, you might have better responses in Tilted Gaming. |
I have two NES boxes in my closet. Complete w/ the gun.
Too bad it is getting hard to find a TV that works with 'em. As Jinn Kai suggested... get yourself an emulator. I have like 600+ old console games in a zip file if you're too lazy to find them yourself. |
I have a NES (with about 70 games for it) and a SNES (about 20 games). I love playing these things. But some of the games are pretty expensive for them, like $20-50 each. Thats alot when you consider you can win them in a few hours.
I recently bought an old xbox from a pawn shop, put a 500 gig HD in it and networked it to the computer. I can put movies and music and everything on it. I put NES, SNES, N64, and a PS1 emulator on it and have pretty much every game for those systems on it. They all work great except the PS1 emulator sucks balls and crashes all the time, I might just delete that one off it. |
Still got mine. Works pretty well considering the age and the crappy cartridge loading design. The kids play the crap out of when I hook it up. They love Super Mario Brothers and The Legend of Zelda.
|
I still have my NES with a ton of games. It's fun every now and then to play some of the old skool stuff.
That being said, an emulator is the way to go though. |

You're right. And I do have DK for SNES. Don't get me wrong, I'm a gamer from way back (loved King's Quest 1, 2 & 3, played Rogue non stop. And don't get me going about Tempest, my all time favourite) but I don't have the cycles to invest on SNES these days, when I barely get about an hour / week to even look at a game system.... |
emulator is the only way to go. got a cheap gamepad, and rocked zelda, tyson's punchout and super tecmo like I was 15 again hehehhe.
|
I bought a USB adapter that allows one to connect his PS2 controller (the Dual Shock 2), to the computer and use it as a gamepad. And IMO, the Dual Shock 2 is one of the best controllers ever made.
I use zsnes to read SNES emulated games, and have been having a blast with Donkey Kong Country, Super Mario World, Mario Kart, and next I'm gonna download Killer Instinct. You can find ROMs here: http://emu-russia.km.ru/default.php?...om=0&to=9&l=en |
You could just download an NES emulator and a couple of ROMS...
But, no, I don't miss mine mainly because I still have it. Granted, it doesn't really work all that well (It has this habit of turning off and on over and over again. It's weird), but it's still fun when it decides to stay on. |
