help with windows media player
I recently purchased this integrated headset MP3 player from Otto: http://www.hearotto.com/Products_OT3.aspx that I’m very fond of. I’m having some difficulty putting my music on it, though, it uses Windows Media Player to load the songs and I put songs from my buddy’s MP3 player on my computer (he has one that works just like a hard drive) and the problem I have is that Windows Media Player isn’t listing the names of the tracks and therefore isn’t sorting my music by album or anything useful. Anyone know a way to get it to do that?

Tag Solution
The ID3 Tags for each song might need to be edited so that WMP can properly read it and register it.
It could be that your friend didn't bother to use the song tags, and now you are left to do the job yourself. But unless you can get your wireless mp3 player to choose which song you want to listen to, I really don't see the problem. Maybe it is that you want to choose which songs get transferred to your mp3 player, thereby eliminating the chance that a couple of shit-songs creep their way into your playlist. Hope this post serves you for the better. ~Jets |
Thanks.. it does. I was afraid that I was using the wrong version of WMP but the box for the Ottos says WMP10 and up and WMP10 is what I have. I just hope I don't have to end up doing it by hand, because I do want to edit the playlist, but there's a lot I'd have to label.

SpottedThinker, the windows media player built into Windows Vista finds all of my ID3 tags once I play the song through it. And of course, as long as I have an internet connection.

In WMP, right click the tunes and hit "find album information".
It'll look them up on the internet and SHOULD find them. It makes bad suggestions at times, so look out for that, but otherwise it's good. |
Thanks Daniel that worked! So relieved I didn't have to do them all by hand. In retrospect that wasn't a big fraction of my overall music anyway, and I probably spent more time researching an answer than it would have taken, but oh well. In other news, Otto sent me a discount code for 10% off the mp3 player/headset that I bought from them and free shipping. It also works on their bluetooth car kit (www.hearotto.com/Products_OT2.aspx). Not gonna use that so have at it.
