need help on linux

this is a long shot, but I had to try.

I'm trying to work out a feasible alternative workstation (instead of Windows). Ergo, something based on Linux.

so,

1. does anyone know where I can get mozilla/netscape plugins that can accurately display all those active-x & asp controls that can only be displayed in IE?

2. is there anything on Linux that can work with Active Directory? and particularly, Exchange 2000's bells & whistles

3. Something that works with Microsoft's ISA proxy. It's not socks5 or socks4. It uses AD/NT Authentication.

thanks

Mozilla ActiveX: http://www.iol.ie/~locka/mozilla/mozilla.htm

I don't have first hand experience with any of these, but they look like a good start.

Good luck and report your findings. I would love to make such a switch but I don't feel like investing the time...

Some results.

Firstly, the activeX plugin by the Locka fella; I tried this. It doesn't really display all the controls accurately. Some. Not at all. E.g., the 'drop-down' thingy.

Haven't tried the Ximian connector. But I was looking more fer a freeware thingy. kmail from kde seems to work with Exchange 2000.

Ooo. Samba 3.0, for AD portion. Again, haven't tried that. This might just work. However, I still need to work with Microsoft ISA; them and their damned non-standard proxy.

Anyway, a thousand thanks rubicon.

Ximian works with Exchange server, but not in the same way as Outlook. You lose all the collaborativeness of having folders like calendar online. No sharing at all.
