Building my new system, a few questions please
 

I bought a new case, asus p4p800 mobo, 2.4c proc, and ram. Setting this whole thing up though seems a little bit tougher than I thought at first. The case never came with a manual, so does anyone know where I can go on the net to find out where all the little sensors and connectors to the front panel go? Also, is it dangerous to put that little heat sensor directly on the processor? it seems as if it might put too much pressure on one spot if i do it. And where would the system sensor need to be attached to?

The mobo owner's manual should have a full listing of where all the front connectors hook up to it. As far as the case, it's usually self-explanatory if you just pay attention.

The heat sensor is better off being put on the CPU's heatsink, but not between it and the CPU. In other words, put it on the bottom of the heatsink, but not between the H.S. and the CPU core.

Also, how can we help you out with info on the case wiring if you're not even going to tell us what brand and model the case is?

as boco said, you find out where all the front wires go on the mobo manual.

the case should have come w/ a lil piece of paper, identifying what those front wires are using thier acronym's.

match this info up w/ the mobo manual and see where they go.

Page 2-34 of the P4P800 user's manual. I assembled one last week - piece of cake. The leads coming from the front of your case should be labelled. Just make sure you get the Pos and Neg connections right. The + and - might even be labelled on the leads. Colored wire (red, green, etc.) is usually positive, white and black are negative. If the leads aren't marked at all, you can just pick each one and follow it up to where it starts - Power led, IDE led, Reset Switch, etc.

BoCo's right. You could crush the heat sensor if you put it between. You could always put it on your graphics processor or elsewhere in your case. The P4P800 has a cpu heat sensor built-in.

while we're talking about wires from the front led, does it matter which way you put them in? should the text be facing you or away from you?

i've put them in one way and they work, and i was wondering if they would work in reverse.

I am not sure if a DC signal powers the front LED, but if it does, it does matter which way the wires are connected. If you put the + to the - connection, etc., the LED won't work and you may short your system. If it is an AC signal though, it doesn't matter which way they go in.

thanks for the advice. I just got home from a long painful day at work and ready to spend the next few hours putting this baby together. The case is called the Titan TK-6500TMB. It didn't come with shit. I even called the store and they said there's no manual or paperwork. I'll give it my best shot and ask again if I get stuck.

Rococo, can you post a pic of the case? Even Google came up with nothing on it.
