can anyone give me a quick lesson on how to use winamp to convert mp3 to wav format? i want into the preferences to try and select the appropriate output, but couldnt figure it out. thanks in advance.

You were close.

Preferences -> Output -> Nullsoft Disk Writer Plugin

Then click Configure, and really the only thing you need to change is the destination directory.

Then load up the songs you want to convert in a playlist and hit play.

Hey guys I have another Winamp question, windows media player has high-jacked my music files. I used to click a song in my music folder and it would play with Winamp, now I get WMP and I hate it. Is there a way to make Winamp my default player?
As long as I'm asking questions, why do I get "will not fit" when trying to copy cds using WMP?

right-click a music file, select "Open with..." -> "Choose program" and make sure you have the "Always use selected program.." box checked.

then - winamp - Options - Setup - Agent ->enable winamp agent.

You may have to un-associate (or dis-associate.. whatever) the mp3 and m3u file format with Windows Media Player. I'm not sure where it is in WMP's settings, but somewhere in there you should have the option to choose what files you want WMP to associate with.
