Firefox 1.5.0.6 problem
I just upgraded to the 1.5.0.6 version of firefox and it apperently it doesn't come with the default search pages that the older versions contained. So I think to myself no big deal, I'll just grab it off their site. Yet I coulden't find the basic google one on thier site:eek:.
Anyone else have this problem with it or know where to get the basic plugin for it? Thanks. |
That's very odd since my 1.5.0.6 did come with the standards, at least google. It sounds ilke you have some interface problems caused by a corrupt profile. This has happened to me in the past updating firefox. The solution was to just delete the old profile and have FF create a new one for you. You can go in there and copy your bookmarks.html file to a safe place first, and then copy it back.

I've done that. I've even reinstalled firefox, this is odd indeed. At least I've got a toolbar still :P

The default search plugins are in the Mozilla Firefox\searchplugins folder in the install directory for Firefox. Any new search engines that you add are in the ..\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\(insert profile here)\searchplugins folder
Anyway, check that first one to see if there are any SRC files in there. If they are missing (namely google.src), then that would be the reason why you cannot access them. They 'should' be there though. You can take them from any computer and put them in either directory and they should work. If you don't have access to them from a different computer, let me know and I'll email them to you |
I still can't get it to work. I've gotten a friend to send me the folder, I've put it in the dir. I've checked the about:config setting in firefox and they all show up I'm stumped.

Maybe firefox is finally becoming evil...
I emailed you the search files. They should be exactly the same as the ones you got from your friend though :/ |
Stupid question I'm sure, but you're certain you're adding things to the correct user's directory?
