Car Cassette Adapter vs. FM Transmitter?

Which do you think is better overall for playing an mp3 player in a car: Cassette Adapter or FM Transmitter. I'm leaning more towards the cassette adapter because it doesn't require batteries, but I'm worried about what the sound quality will be like.

Cassette adapter all the way. Too much static interference on the FM transmitter. We have both, and the cassette adapter has far better sound quality. Of course, if you live in the middle of nowhere, you might like the FM transmitter, but I found that even out in the country, there was still a background high pitched hum that drove me nucking futs. (I have hangups that way.) So in conclusion, cassette adapters kick FM transmitters' asses.

we have one of each...I MUCH prefer the cassette adapter....there is no pain of trying to find an fm station not in use (course living in metro Atlanta its almost impossible to do) our fm transmitter is only good once we get up in the mtns where you cant get any radio lol

I honestly dont notice one bit of difference in the sound quality

We have one of each as well. Depending on the car we rent determines which gets used. More often than not it's the cassette adapter that wins.

Beyond the FM interference aspect which I hate with a passion, cassette adapters have potentially much better response. Up to 18-20KHz depending on deck and adapter vs FM down around 15KHz. That's noticeable.

if you do any long distance traveling the fm transmitters are a pain, you have to find a new station every time you approach a new town.

the best is adding an additional input... some radios have the auxillary input and you can run the cable from behind to up front and just plug it in like that

but barring that cassette adapter is the way to go

Do not get the F.M. transmitter! It sucks so bad. I unfortunately don't have a cassette player in my car so I have to use the transmitter. I want to break things when I hear the static!

i've been using an FM transmitter... everytime you drive near someone using one on the same station, you get TONS of static... and if you get stuck in traffic next to someone on the same channel, it sucks... if you ride in your car alot, consider a new headunit so you can plug it in directly, i'm thinking of getting one soon

I use a cassette adapter. It's more reliable than an FM transmitter.

Crazy

cassette adapter is better since batteries are not required and fm transmitters get too many unwanted signals, if you do choose the fm transmitter select a wired one directly on your car to get a better quality of sound
