I'd be looking on phonescoop.com and/or calling cellone for phone-as-modem capability. It can be fairly expensive depending on your plan.

Another option that may or may not be cheaper (I haven't done a lot of pricing) is to check with your wireless provider or other wireless providers about getting a PCMCIA card that acts as a wireless modem. I think the speeds are somewhere between 56k and DSL and, when I was in the Verizon store the other week, I think the price was about $50/month for nationwide coverage.

i went to buy a cable for radio shack for my phone to go online the other year, they told me you need to buy software to go along with the cable (sold seperately most of the time..) then once you got that, you can collect aol sample CD's, and just keep using the sample time and canceling, and resigning up for aol... or any of those free dial up CD's... your phone will work just like a the phone jack in your wall... soo you'll need a dial up modem on your laptop.
this doesn't work with all phones, it wasn't compatable with my model of phone, soo i couldn't do it... it should tell you what you can do with the cable when you buy the cable and software
