[java]Relating to the portable apps
Relating to the portable app thread in computer forums, I was wondering if there is a version of Java that can be installed on a flash drive that I can run my eclipse from. I don't think its possible but then again, I didn't think it was possible to have portable internet browser like firefox.

i would think you could put java on a flash drive with eclipse. i believe you can tell eclipse where to find its jvm at start up. but both java and eclipse are compiled for specific platforms, so it would work for any windows box, but you would need another set up for linux or mac.
btw, firefox isnt really portable either. it is ported, meaning the code is compiled for each platform. I dont know if it is even the same code (usually isnt). |
