2nd mac question

i am getting a new macbook pro to replace my ageing ibook.

When setting up a new mac out of the box it asks if you want to transfer date from an old mac to the new one.

has anyone done this? do you know what it entails? Is date on the old computer left intact?

thanks

The key thing here is whether your ibook supports firewire target mode. Basically you hook the two computers up to each other and reboot the ibook while holding "t" down. THe new computer takes all your files and settings and puts them into place. The ibook will be left intact. It really couldn't be much simpler.

When you get the macbook, just go through all the setup dialogues. It's a piece of cake.

data should be left on your old machine...but it will copy over files and settings if applicable.

unsure if it moves applications, my guess is that it would not.
