irc chat problem
 

ok, so ive been away for work and ive just got back. the last time i visited tfp would have been about 3 weeks now, geez sounds so long ago now...
anyways, i tried to get into irc chat and it gave me this message...

now i dont know if ive been banned personallyor if im banned because someone with the same isp did something stupid on irc and they decided to ban everyone with the same isp. any ideas? and how do i take the ban off?

I'm guessing you're using the chat link. Until the issue is resolved, go here. After it finishes connecting, put in your nick where it says "change nick to" and hit enter. Then, click the "infos" button and type "/join #tfp" (minus the quotes) and you're in. If you're not using the chat link, post what irc client you're using and we'll help you figure it out from there.

Hi. I apear to be having the same bug that the first guy is having. I'm on a different PC now from the one I was using before. And my nick always starts as Anon#### before I change it to (insert verb)777(insert noun) such as "fondled777nurses", "gfcheated777times", etc.

Any help would be apreciated, Thanks.

I'm not getting the bug, but when I click on the chap(popup) option, I get a black window. Now, I'm fairly new to this chattin' business, but does this just mean that no one is in chat? Or am I missing something else?

A-chatting I go...

I followed the link and directions here because I was getting the error message using the chat link. However, when I access the link, the screen shows:

[12:44] Unable to connect : null

I tried clicking on the connect button again but I get the same message.

How can I get past these messages?

yeah, me too. Could it be the location of my ISP or has a similar ISP caused problems in the past?

ok.. i tried re-logging into chat through that link you had spectre and it was the same thing..heres what it said.. any ideas anyone? i cant log into chat through tfp even if i dont go through pop up.. and now i cant log in thru shadowfire..any ideas would be helpful

Hmmmm, I'm at home for the break and therefore am stuck on my parent's computer. That means I can't install programs (such as my preferred XChat) since I don't have admin access and my dad is pretty strict about the stuff on the computer since he uses it for work. Because of this, I have to use either the java chat or the Chatzilla extension for Firefox, and I am getting the same DTHN Trojan issue with both of them. Turns out onodrim is also getting this error when attempting to use the java chat on her parent's computer.

Any new ideas regarding this? I'm at a loss...I can't figure out how to change the ident on the java chat or Chatzilla to see if that would even work.

I had that problem most of the day on Saturday-- changing the ident didn't help at all... the problem just went away on it's own...

If you are not sure whats wrong yet, after reading the descriptions above, the following small summary may help you:

1. If the Summary says your copy of Mirc has a security vulnerability, you should upgrade your copy of Mirc. The Mirc website is located at http://www.mirc.co.uk
2. If the Summary says you are infected with a Virus, you should either purchase a virus scanner and check your machine, or if you already have a virus scanner you should ensure its upto date and scan your machine for virus's. Several different Virus Scanners are available for Windows. A small list includes Norton and McAfee
3. If the Summary says you are a Bot or a Trojan that is bad, you should check to make sure that any scripts you use in your IRC client are free from backdoors and hacks. The best way to check is to remove all the scripts you are using and start with a clean copy of Mirc.
4. If the summary says you are using a War Script, these are usually not permitted on IRC, and you should remove this script from your IRC client
5. If you still not sure what to do, post your information (including the "Virus Name") in our forums, and someone may be able to help you out.

I think the shadowfire.org site might be down, has anyone else had any trouble connecting? I keep getting time outs when trying to access the java chat page. Which is the only way I can get in right now.
