help adding an avatar to my profile?
 

ive noticed that the post requirement for having an avatar has been lowered, i really want one but i cant figure out how to do it, can someone plz help

...and when you see this, do you check their profile to see post count?

Some people use 'Rookie' as their custom title..I suspect that is what you are seeing.

Ok, I'm having an avatar problem.

I reached the two fifty mark about a week ago and I still don't have the ability to add an avatar.

Is there some type of problem going on right now and I just need to wait it out, or is this just my shitty bad luck?

If there are any other members who had an avatar and have not been able to put one up again since the upgrade, post here and let me know. Assuming what I did for flyguy works, I can do yours as well.

ok, its been a week since I posted the first time so I shall do it again.

I have reached the 250 mark, about two weeks ago now, and I still do not have the avatar option. could you please fix my account?

I'm well into the 300's (334 presently, with over 9 posts a day *struts*) and am having a similar avatar problem. I would be eternalyl grateful for any assistance, though it won't be the end of the world if I don't have one.

Okay, finally got over the 250 post threshhold and am able to upload an avatar.

I went in and tried to upload one that I've used on other boards and is the correct size. But on the Edit Avatar screen, the spot that should show the picture is rexed.

If you go to a post of mine, where the avatar is, is a link that says "eagle1's avatar"

Any help appreciated.

What? Is the avatar the holy grail? I didn't care that I didn't have an avatar....until I read this post. Now I crave one too. Appreciate it!

No they're really not important at all. It's an added venue to express oneself but that's about it. Posts by people with avatars aren't generally given any more credence than posts by those without one.

if teh post count is 250 then why am i seeing people with under 200 with avatars? lol i soo cant wait till i reach the req to get mine but it would be helpful to know exactly what the rules are :/..and if its not a 250 post count then is there something special that you have to do to get one?

It is 250. During the upgrade, the default setting was much lower, and by the time it was corrected, a few people had been able to get an avatar posted.

If avatars are really not that important a consideration, and number of posts does not determine status then why restrict the use of avatars ?

It seems completely unecessary, and ideolically questionable for a board that purports to foster a sense of community.

it's a matter of the band coming down the pipes. we give those who participate the opputunity to express themselved through an avitar. those images, dinky as they may be at 100x100, are still more bits than just text, so they are indeed a premium to those who contribute.
