Can't view images in ART's posts...

Every single time I try to view any image that ARTelivison has posted, I am returned with a white banner that says

"Go Home and buy your own bandwidth. www.Blosphere.net "

I have this happen on some other people's posts as well that look to be hosting images on that site...

Any ideas as to why this is happening to me? It looks like everybody else can view his posts fine.

A few more details might help.
What kind of browser are you using and what kind of connection do you have?

ARTelevision 11-22-2003 08:15 AM

make sure you are accessing thge site via the domain:

http://www.tfproject.org

and not the IP or some other method of access.

Realizm 11-22-2003 05:13 PM

I am using a cable connection through a router.

Have tried in browsers Mozilla Firebird and IE 6.

http://www.tfproject.org/tfp/showthr...threadid=35971

is one such address that I have the problems on. Not viewing through any proxies or anything.. and before I have been able to view ART's stuff. I can't pinpoint when I stopped being able to, but I'm really clueless as to why this could be happening..

Realizm 11-22-2003 05:13 PM

Now that I think about it, trying to access www.blosphere.net itself I get the same image. Can't understand this at all..

Realizm 11-24-2003 07:58 PM

Guess no one knows why this is happening huh?

Redlemon 11-25-2003 06:48 AM

Did you set any special privacy setting in Firebird, or add some privacy extensions? It also could be blocked cookies, or a "block referrer" setting.

(I'm using Mozilla Firebird 0.7 with no problems.)
(Also just checked with the 11-16 nightly build of MF, also OK.)

Conclamo Ludus 11-25-2003 06:53 AM

I ran into the same thing. When viewing ART's pictures at work using IE6 or Phoenix (Old Firebird) I can see his pics fine. When I go home and use Mozilla I get the buy your own bandwidth thing too.

Realizm 11-25-2003 09:06 AM

I've tried various browsers, I've made myself DMZ, I've disabled my firewall (With pop up blocking, privacy, etc), and I've checked firebird's settings..

They're all open to anything..

and Still no pictures.

This blows my mind.

Redlemon 11-25-2003 09:09 AM

I still think it is a referrer issue. Either try:
  • a new profile in Firebird (move the old one to a new location so that you can copy your bookmarks and history back in), or
  • perhaps you have some spyware that is interfering with the referrer identification? Run Ad-Aware by Lavasoft and/or Spybot Search & Destroy, both freeware.

Art, are you sure you have www.tfproject.org allowed, or just tfproject.org. that may be the problem. I have run into the same problem, recently, though. I access via http://tfproject.org...

Realizm 11-25-2003 01:47 PM

I've tried accessing via tfproject.org as well as www.tfproject.org, same problem.

I am not so sure it is a problem limited to TFP, though. I have tried entering http://www.Blosphere.net into a new IE and Firebird window and still had this problem occur, and I know I'm not getting referred from TFP when I go there directly.

ARTelevision 11-25-2003 01:57 PM

It's a bit of a confounding issue - I don't have any single, simple answer. Sorry for the problems folks are having.

These images and a bunch more of mine, sus', and mimi's will be moving to a new host soon. At that point, they will rex for everyone for a while. Apologies in advance for that, too.

We just ran out of space on ARTelevision, where the rest of our ARTelevision and TFP stuff is hosted...

ARTelevision 11-26-2003 04:23 AM

Ok here's an admin-level response:

It seems that your browser is blocking referrals. This is comparable to blocking icmp traffic. Are you using some kind of personal firewall/security?

For example:
Here's instructions how to bypass this 'feature' in norton personal firewall/norton internet security:

http://www.virginblue.com.au/help/norton.html

...this sort of thing does explain most of the reports I've been getting.
thanks.

Realizm 11-26-2003 05:00 AM

Yep that was it, thanks guys.
