Search this forum function
Hi,
I post a few jokes on the humor board and posted a couple of repeats which I got warned about (Sorry Jadzia!). I posted another yesterday, which someone says has already been posted. Now, I used the 'search this forum' box with a line from the joke I posted yesterday, and it came up with no matches, even though I copied and pasted from the post I made. Obviously after getting a warning I don't want to do it again, so am I doing something wrong, and if so what? Thanks in advance. |
Ah, here it is :) Sorry mods, learning all the time :)

use "keywords" to search.
If you use the phrase "And she stepped on the ball" to search, you may not find the joke where the line is "she tripped over the ball". What happens, in the Humor forum anyway, is that the jokes are phrased a little different. But because I've been keeping an eye on that forum, I recognize something as having been posted before. Then I search to make sure. Remember that the search engine can use wildcards (substitute * for a letter or series of letters if spelling is a problem) and quotation marks for string searches (if you want the exact phrase "on the ball", surround it in quotes). And no need to apologize again, feetfirst. But thanks ;) |
Hi Jadzia, I actually went into a post I made, and copied and pasted a phrase from that post, and it came up as a blank search. Maybe a glitch of some sort? Anyway, thanks for your help, and yes, I stare every time lol ;)

So you're saying that it didn't find the post of yours that it was copied from? I'll go test the search a few times and let you know if I can figur out what's going on.
